PHAEDRA

based on Hippolytus by Euripides.

"Love me 'till my heart stops. Love me 'till I'm dead."

When Phaedra falls in love with her stepson Hippolytus, it all goes really, really well and everyone lives long and fruitful lives. Here is a list of things that are in this play: savage chastity, erotic shame, ritual sacrifice, burning hateful passion, synth-pop. Sydney's fearless new theatre company brings to death Euripides' tragic, art-punk heroine.

"Original and daring...thoughtful, spirited, and full of flair. It is irreverent and mischievous, but also dark and heavy. It is why we need the theatre." - Suzy Goes See

"Danielle Baynes gives a standout performance as the titular character. The Shakespearean-trained Baynes is fantastically tortured in an innovative adaption of this Greek tragedy." - The Buzz from Sydney

"This is a brave and fearless first production...It could herald a new, daring, experimental and bold voice on Sydney’s independent theatre scene." - The Spell of Waking Hours
