Lies, Lies and Propaganda

One comma, no ampersand.

Lies, Lies and Propaganda was founded by director Michael Dean in 2014 to push independent theatre in Sydney forward. Over the next four-or-so years, we made eight-ish shows, and they were all pretty good. We did original works, scripted plays and adaptations of classic stories. We transformed every space we worked in, whether a public toilet in Bondi, a glass box in Parramatta or a brand new theatre in Kings Cross. We championed diversity, including giving performers the kind of roles they’d never had before. We’d like to think we expanded some people’s idea of what theatre can do.

We’re on a bit of a hiatus, but we will return in Sydney theatre’s hour of greatest need.

WORKing WITH US

Let’s be honest, we’re unlikely to be in a position to produce your show or direct your script right now. That said, it’s not like we’ve stopped thinking about indie theatre in Sydney and where it needs to go. So if you’ve got a crazy idea, a niggling obsession or a passing fancy - especially involving cultural and neuro diversity, bold uses of the theatrical medium, and the creation of amazing new experiences for audiences - and you want to bounce some ideas around, please get in touch.
